The hospital’s architecture has a contemporary feel and does an excellent job of bringing outdoor elements inside. I was invited to provide a mural for the intake room where children are poked and prodded there. For the larger canvas, I laid in a rough of the composition and basic color for the students. The second grade classes from the Community School worked with me in groups, section by section, with the last group smoothing and unifying the painting. I touched it up a bit, but it is very much collaboration between the students and me. The painting was auctioned at the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis on March 4, 2006 and raised $1,600.00.
